This Privacy Policy describes how Apps by Dad ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Allowances mobile application ("App").
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Name and email address
- Family and household information
- PIN or password (stored securely and encrypted)
Children's Information
Because this App is designed for families, a parent or guardian who creates the family account may add child profiles. Depending on how you set up the App, this can include:
- Child's name (for display within the family)
- Optional profile photo (camera or photo library, only when a parent chooses to add one)
- Optional email address and date of birth for a child account, if the parent enables sign-in for that child
- Allowance, chore, savings, and related activity data tied to that child's profile
We rely on the adult account holder to provide any child information and to comply with applicable laws (including rules about children's privacy in your region). If you believe we have collected a child's information without appropriate parental involvement, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
Usage Data & Device Information
The App stores some preferences on your device (for example, dashboard layout, onboarding hints, and sign-in options) using Apple's standard on-device storage. We do not embed third-party advertising or analytics SDKs in the App.
If you enable push notifications, we store an Apple push token together with your account on our servers so we can deliver notifications you expect (for example, reminders related to chores or allowances). You can withdraw this at any time by turning off notifications for the App in iOS Settings.
We do not operate a separate in-app crash-reporting or performance analytics product. Apple may optionally share aggregated crash or diagnostic information with developers if you have chosen to share analytics with Apple on your device.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the App
- Process transactions and manage allowances
- Send you important updates about the App
- Respond to your support requests
- Understand product usage in aggregate as needed to improve the service (without third-party ad or analytics SDKs in the App)
- Comply with legal obligations
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on secure servers. We use industry-standard encryption to protect your information both in transit and at rest. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to safeguard your data.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only:
- With service providers who assist us in operating the App (under strict confidentiality agreements), including:
- Supabase — cloud hosting for authentication, database, realtime sync, and related App features
- Apple — App Store distribution and Apple Push Notification service (APNs) when you enable notifications
- When required by law or to protect our rights
- With your explicit consent
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Data portability
